Tibetan Rugs with Flower Design

Some patterns are chosen for how they look. Flowers in Tibetan rugs are chosen for what they mean.

In Himalayan weaving tradition, every flower carries a message. Peonies wish wealth and honor upon the household. Lotus flowers represent the possibility of rising above suffering to reach clarity and peace. Chrysanthemums symbolize long life and the strength to endure. When a Tibetan weaver places these flowers into a rug, they're not following a template, they're offering a quiet blessing to whoever lives with the piece.

This Tibetan flower design rug features a generous arrangement of traditional floral motifs, hand-knotted with the kind of layered detail that rewards close attention. Petals fold. Stems curve. Colors shift subtly from the center of each bloom to its edges. It's the kind of work that only looks this way when someone spent months making it by hand.

How It's Made

Hand-knotted by skilled weavers in Kathmandu, Nepal. Flower motifs require careful curved-line work and nuanced color blending, each petal involves multiple color transitions knot by knot. At 100 knots per square inch, the floral forms are rendered with softness and precision. Production takes 10 to 14 weeks.

Materials

100% fine New Zealand wool on a cotton foundation. Soft underfoot, naturally resilient, and colorfast for long-lasting vibrancy. Safe for children and pets. No synthetic materials. Fringed edges finished by hand.

Where to Place It

Flower design Tibetan rugs soften a room without overwhelming it. Ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, dining spaces, and reading corners. They pair well with warm wood tones, neutral furniture, and both traditional and transitional interior styles.

How This Differs from Our Other Floral Rugs

We carry several floral Tibetan rugs, each with a different composition and mood. This one focuses on the flowers themselves as the primary subject, with the blooms filling the field rather than sharing the space with border symbols or cloud motifs. If you want flowers front and center, this is the one.

A Note on Handmade

Slight variations in petal shapes, knot line widths, and color saturation are inherent to the hand-knotting process. These are the natural signatures of handmade Tibetan carpets, each one different, each one real.
