Flower and Cloud Design Tibetan Carpet

Earth below. Sky above. Both woven into one rug.

This hand-knotted Tibetan carpet brings together two of the most enduring motifs in Himalayan art: blooming flowers and drifting cloud bands. In Tibetan symbolism, flowers represent the impermanence and beauty of earthly life - they bloom, they teach, they release. Cloud bands, by contrast, signify the heavens and divine connection, the realm beyond what we can touch. When these two motifs appear together, they depict balance: the spiritual and the earthly, intertwined.

The result is a rug that feels both grounded and light. The flowers anchor the composition with color and detail while the flowing clouds give the design a sense of movement and open space, a rare quality in a textile you walk on.

How It's Made

Hand-knotted in Kathmandu by master weavers using traditional Tibetan techniques. The interplay between organic flower shapes and fluid cloud forms requires confident color work and careful transitions between motifs, this is not a beginner's design. Production takes 10 to 14 weeks depending on size.

Materials

100% fine New Zealand wool on a cotton foundation. Vibrant, colorfast dyes ensure the flowers and clouds retain their richness for decades. Safe for homes with children and pets. Hand-finished fringed edges.

Available Sizes

4×6 ft · 5×8 ft · 6×9 ft · 8×10 ft · 9×12 ft · 10×13 ft · 10×14 ft Custom sizes available.

The flower and cloud combination creates a serene, balanced atmosphere - perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, or meditation spaces. The flowing design also works well in dining rooms and hallways where you want visual movement without visual noise.

A Note on Handmade

Each rug is unique. The way a particular weaver interprets the curl of a cloud or the tilt of a petal will differ slightly from rug to rug, and that's what makes handwoven Tibetan carpets irreplaceable.
