Dhaka is a traditional handwoven fabric in various colours with intricate patterns on it. It is the most remarkable and visible textile which is worn by the indigenous Limbu people of eastern Nepal. It is truly an indigenous form of expression reflecting Nepali mastery of craftsmanship. The Nepali Dhaka is considered a symbol of pride as it is interlinked with their culture to a very large extent and hence it is a representation and symbol of the Nepali culture.
Dhaka fabrics are used to stitch different clothing items. However, in recent times, it is not just limited to clothing, various accessories items like slippers, shoes, bags, ties are being designed out from Dhaka.
All our Dhaka products are 100% handmade by single mothers. We are supporting the program “Weaving for Empowerment” and teaching underprivileged women marketable skills, assisting them in becoming economically self-sufficient, preserving traditional Nepali weaving, and inspiring other women to join them in a new and promising future. By purchasing these lovely handcrafted items, you are indirectly supporting our initiative.
